If your gas dryer unit is not working properly, you can perform a few basic checks before requesting service.
This guide explains how to troubleshoot your Rinnai gas dryer and interpret its error codes.

🧾 Step 1: Basic Checks Before Reading Error Codes

Before checking error codes or calling for service, please inspect the following:

1. Check the Laundry Load

Make sure the amount of laundry does not exceed the recommended load line inside the drum.
Overloading the dryer prevents proper air circulation and can cause poor drying, overheating, or automatic shutdown.

💡 Tip: As a general rule, fill the drum no more than 70–80% full so air can circulate freely.

2. Clean the Dryer Filter

Referring to the type of the dryer you have at your property, follow the guided instruction from Rinnai official website or follow according to our English guidance.

After choosing the model that fits your unit, proceed to follow the guided instruction on cleaning the dryer filter, or the lint filter inside the dryer. 

3. Check the Duct and Exhaust Outlet

Make sure the exhaust vent is not blocked by lint, dust, or objects.
Good ventilation is essential for safe gas combustion and proper drying.

4. Reset the Unit

Just like an air conditioner reset:

1. Turn off the unit completely.

2. Unplug the power cord.

3. Wait 10–20 minutes.

4. Plug the cord back in and turn the unit on again.

💡 Tip: This often clears temporary electronic errors or safety lockouts.

5. Check Room Temperature

If the surrounding room or bathroom is too cold, condensation can form around the unit, causing abnormal readings.
Ensure the room temperature is above 5°C (41°F).
